David On The Duomo

As part of the Florens 2010 Festival, a scale copy of Michelangelo’s David was placed on the Duomo in its originally planned position. The 400kg, 5.7 metre statue was raised onto the Cathedral for just one day and night before being removed and placed in front of the Duomo for the Miracle of San Zanobi. On Saturday morning with fresh grass covering the piazza, the flag wavers of Florence put on a show.

If your readers want to more about the intended location(s) of the David, I wrote that one yesterday: http://www.turismo.intoscana.it/allthingstuscany/tuscanyarts/david-intended-location/

Annnndddd… the answer to your question “how many davids are there in Florence?” – well, that depends. Do you just mean Michelangelo’s David? there are others… ;-)
